This winter, on Fridays between December 8-January 19 (corresponding with the eagle watcher program dates) the Forest Service is operating the official bald eagle count on Rockport to Marblemount section of the Skagit River. This stretch, part of which is known as the Skagit River Bald Eagle Natural Area, generally has the greatest concentration of wintering bald eagles on the Skagit, and is the area where we offer the weekend eagle viewing stations and outfitters run eagle viewing float trips by raft and driftboat.
